If you pass more speech checks, the looter will confess to the crime, and offer a bribe to walk away.Īt this point you can either accept the bribe or not, otherwise they'll flee. If you are successful you will be "cleared" of their suspicion, and are allowed to walk away or accuse them instead. You will have the opportunity to try and pin it back on them using a variety of speech checks. When you approach and talk to the person, they will deny that they murdered the merchant, and accuse you instead. You may come across the body of a merchant with another person looting the body. These events can be hostile or subdued, depending on what the outcome of the event is. This encounter is different from finding a poacher at his usual hideout in the forest. Sometimes the poacher seems unwilling to talk to the player. Sometimes he will be willing to talk to Henry in which Henry can accuse him of being a poacher or choose to buy goods from him. The poacher can often be found in the woods. If you are, you'll have them taken from you and will have to pay a fine or risk jail time with the nearest town guards. He'll ask to check your inventory for any ill-gotten animal parts to make sure you're not a poacher. Often encountered on the roads in deep forests, the Gamekeeper will accost you and demand to know your intentions in the woods. The reward and fine are fairly small, so indulge only if you want to challenge your brain for a fun pastime. The Riddler will give you a random riddle, and if you can solve it correctly, you will earn Groschen, or pay up if you are wrong. This medieval batman villain is quite harmless, and will only stop you to offer you a competition. The wager is 50 Groschen on both sides, so a victory or loss can have you gain 100 Groschen or set you back that amount. If you accept, you'll have a moderately challenging fight until either of you surrenders. Though dangerous looking, the Mercenary is a friendly NPC that is bored while waiting for their next job, and will challenge you to honorable combat to pass the time. ![]() Subsequent duels will also reward you with more brigandine - making dueling him a lucrative encounter. This knight will offer a challenge - if you beat him, you can earn an expensive piece of armor, the Dyed Milanese Brigandine, or you will have to pay up if you lose. You can decline, or fight until either of you submits. The other Knight, unlike the Faint-hearted Knight, is a much tougher opponent, but like the former, will challenge you to honorable combat. Subsequent for a prize can also earn you fancy clothing - the Buttoned Green Cotehardie - or a Groschen reward. Winning the duel will earn you the Magdeburg Longsword. If you ask what you're dueling for, you can insist you fight for his sword. There is a way to earn a better reward, however. The Merchant will appear wandering near the site of the encounter, and cannot find his way to the destination he seeks. At this time, it is not known what the effects are of helping or ignoring a beggar. The Beggar may ask you for bandages, coin, or new clothing - which you can either give or withhold. They will tell you they are either injured or traveled a great distance and are in need of help. The Beggar appears lying on the ground or sitting, often moaning or wailing. The items that a Trader might sell you, per appearance, are: The trader appears as a lone merchant, usually on the side of the road - and will try to pawn off a singular item on you. The following events are friendly encounters, and can avoided without consequence.
